Collection: Byzer Practical Swords

NOTE:  We are working on a website which will lay out all the options on Byzer Practical Swords, as well as note which are in stock and which need to be mounted.  In the meantime, if you're interested in a custom Byzer sword, contact us at rva.katana@gmail.com

Byzer practical swords are made from modern industrial steels known for impact resistance and plasticity, with extra attention to tight tsukamaki wrap and smooth transitions between the fittings.

9260 American spring steel is its entry level material, which combines both elasticity and hardness to hold an edge.

51crv4 German spring steel is comparable to 9260, but with increased impact resistance.  It is 4-8x more resistant to impact than commonly-used Chinese T10 steel, depending on heat treatment.

Sup12 Japanese spring steel is stiffer and harder than 51crv4, with slightly less impact resistance.

S7 tool steel is a shock resisting steel, with an impact resistance 16-20x greater than T10 and comparable hardness.  It is commonly used in concrete breakers, dies, and other applications that require durability against repeated impact.

S5 is Byzer's premier steel, and is 10% more impact resistant than s5.

Functional Damascus: Byzer pattern welds different type of steels for combinations of flexibility and hardness, to combine both practical and artistic aspects.
