Want to practice drawing with a beautiful, 4-500-year old katana?  With tight fittings, this antique, late Muromachi sword is suitable for Iai practice.

Unsigned, NTBHK Certified, attributed to Taira Takada School, judged to be Sue Koto Bizen by Tsuruta Kazushige.

This sword belongs to Jyo saku ranking, the third highest ranking out of four.


Habaki: Copper double Habaki.
Blade length:70.4cm or 27.72inches.
Sori:2.2cm or 0.87inches.
Mekugi:1
Width at the hamachi:3.13cm or 1.232inches.
Width at the Kissaki:2.04cm or 0.803inches.
Kasane:0.73cm or 0.29inches.
The weight of the sword:745grams
Era : Late Muromachi period
Shape : The mihaba and kasane are regular style with deep sori and longer kissaki.
Jigane : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach and Utsuri appear.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with small ashi scatter in Hamon and round Boshi.

Special feature: NBTHK Hozon Token attributed to Taira Takada school, but there are much Utsuri, suggesting the blade belongs to the Bizen school.  The blade has deep sori with Ubu (uncut) nakago.

Koshirae:
Saya: black roiro saya.
Tsuba: Irin tsuba. raised ridge with some design.
Menuki:   gold on the brass metal.
Fuchigashira:  Design is engraved with gold color and the fuchi bamboo pattern is engraved with gold color.
