The Bizen tradition is one of the five main lines of sword smithing, starting during the late Heian period.  Located near the Chugoku Mountains, Bizen had an abundance of iron sand, one of the essential components for swords. Many of the swordsmiths were located on villages along the Yoshi River, which provided plenty of water and pine trees for charcoal, allowing them to forge high-quality bldes.

Bizen Osafune is the main branch, and their swords were coveted by samurai. It started during the Kamakura period before a flood wiped out most of the villages in the late Muromachi period. There have been many generations of Kiyomitsu.

The saya lacks a kurigata, with discoloration in some areas suggesting the sword might have been used as a tachi.

The sword bears a kirikomi (battle scar) along the spine.

INCORRECT SHIPPING INFORMATION

If you accidentally enter an incorrect address, we are able to change it in our system free of charge before shipping. If you inform us after shipping, then we are not responsible for lost packages or return fees.

Returns

You may return any item unused within three days of receipt at your cost (we can provide a shipping label at reduced rates). After inspection of the returned item, we will refund you for the cost of said item, minus any shipping charges that we have covered.

After three days, a 20% restocking fee applies to any return.
