Kunitomo is famous for being the master who trained Izumi no Kami Kunisada and Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke, two of whom were renowned swordsmiths during the Early Edo period. Due to the similarity of how Kunitomo signed and the other two signed, it is believed that they learned sword-forging techniques from Kunitomo.

  Kunitomo was a nephew of Horikawa Kunihiro, one of the most famous swordsmiths during the early Edo period in Yamashiro province (Today’s Kyoto prefecture). He belonged to Horikawa school Kunihiro had founded.  According to Markus Sesko's swordsmith compendium:

Genna (元和, 1615-1624), Yamashiro – “Echigo no Kami Fujiwara Kunitomo”

(越後守藤原国儔), “Fujiwara Kunitomo” (藤原国儔), according to tradition the nephew of Horikawa Kunihiro
(堀川国広), like Kunihiro, he too came from Obi (飫肥) in Hyūga province, it is said that in Kyōto, Kunitomo also
took care of the training of Kunihiro´s students Kunisada (国貞) and Kunisuke (国助) after the death of their master,
dense itame mixed with mokume and ji-nie, also chikei appear and the hada stands out as characteristical zanguri, the hamon is
a notare mixed with gunome and is mostly rather simple or calm, the bōshi has a ko-maru-kaeri and appears sometimes as
midare-komi, in his early years he signed the part “Echigo no Kami Fujiwara” noticeably smaller than the two characters
of “Kunitomo,” over the years the difference in size decreased, jōjō-saku

US ORDERS 

We make every attempt to ship within three business days by the customer’s preferred shipping method.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

Please note that the customer is responsible for understanding the import restrictions of their country, and that RVA Katana is not responsible for items seized in customs, or for swords that are not delivered for failure of the customer to pay customs, duties, or other carrier fees.

INCORRECT SHIPPING INFORMATION

If you accidentally enter an incorrect address, we are able to change it in our system free of charge before shipping.  If you inform us after shipping, then we are not responsible for lost packages or return fees.

Returns

You may return any item unused within three days of receipt at your cost (we can provide a shipping label at reduced rates).  After inspection of the returned item, we will refund you for the cost of said item, minus any shipping charges that we have covered.

After three days, a 20% restocking fee applies to any return.
