Legacy Blades Osoraku Aikuchi Honsanmai Wakizashi (Deep Crimson)
Legacy Blades Osoraku Aikuchi Honsanmai Wakizashi (Deep Crimson)
From Legacy Blades comes something quite unique and rare - custom-made Osoraku Wakizashi mounted in classic Aikuchi Koshirae. An Aikuchi-style mount is one that does not feature a Tsuba. The style of Osoraku is a type of Zukuri whereby the Kissaki is more than half of the length of the entire blade. The blade is fashioned in the Honsanmai tradition, a taco shell-like method of forging the combines the lamination of a 1095 steel for the edge which results in higher edge retention. The sides are made from folded steel to giver the blade a beautiful Hada. The blade is then clay-tempered and given a briliant Hazuya polish, which highlights the natural Hamon. The blade has a detailed, hand-engraved dragon Horimono. The hourglass-shaped Tsuka core is made from white hardwood and full wrapped with authentic black lacquered ray skin. The Habaki is made from pure copper and features a Kanji engraving while the Fuchi and Kashira are made of blackened iron. The Saya is made from hardwood with a unique oar-shaped tip. It is finished off with real buffalo horn Koiguchi, Kurigata, and Kojiri reinforcement. A Kaeritsuno hook made from buffalo horn is also part of the overall classical design, making this sword a unique part of any collection.
